MACHINE VISION
CONCEPT AND APPLICATIONS IN INDUSTRY

Machine Vision (MV) is the technology and methods used for providing automatic inspection and analysis based on imaging for applications such as process control and robot guidance, usually in the industry. With the help of industrial cameras, machine vision systems can measure products, calculate their weight or volume, and inspect goods with higher speed compared to predefined features. Additionally, they automatically extract critical information from vast amounts of data or assist experts in image interpretation by filtering, optimizing, and enhancing the image. Various machine vision software and programs developed in them use digital image processing techniques to extract the required information and often make decisions (such as pass/fail) based on the gathered information.

CAPABILITIES

  • Measurement / Metrology: Measuring object dimensions
  • Edge Detection: Finding object edges
  • Color-based Object Characterization
  • Comparison with target values for "pass/fail" determination
  • Optical character recognition: Automated text reading
  • Barcode, 2D barcode, and QR code reading

IMAGE-BASED ROBOT GUIDANCE

Machine Vision (MV) typically provides information about the location and orientation of an object to a robot, enabling the robot to perform actions on the product, providing it with coordinates. This capability is also used for guiding the
